I read a post apocalyptic novel called 'The Last Canadian' about a guy at an old fishing camp who has to winter over. He used a front end loader to move one of the cabins into the main cabin. He filled the area between the two walls with wood that he split for heating/cooking. I always thought that that would have been real cozy because even though the cabins were not insulated they had wood floors and he would have been 5 or 6 feet above the earth and had a dead air space of at least 5-10 feet all around. I think he jury rigged a stovepipe so he had some kind of wood stove inside the smaller cabin.

A couple of those big 3 wic candles would have done the trick. Better luck next time.

The double tent would be very helpful with a little wind kicking up I would think

First you didn't put a heavyweight tarp down for your floor, then you put 4 rocks in the fire then put the rocks in a metal bucket,put a piece of flat wood under the metal bucket (so u don't scorch the fabric of the tent) put the bucket inside with you in the 2 man or woman dome tent. Don't forget the artic sleeping bag. N a heavy animal pelt to put under your body between the air mattress n tent bottom. Oh yeah a foot pump to pump up the air mattress is needed. That's how a former girl scout would camp in the winter. N I would have had a snow mobile suit on as well. N my rabbit Elmer Fudd hat, artic gloves.long under wear, boots that are rated to -25 F . Battery operated boot n glove warmer's. This girl doesn't like to be cold. LoL

How about a tent inside a house and not tell anyone.
A hot tent requires a hot stove. They are small and they heat tents to 70 plus Fahrenheit.

For me that would be straight up miserable....im miserable at 30 degrees with a buddy heater..You are super human dude.

I have used a canopy, zip tied tarps for 3 walls, put my tent inside that, added cots, flannel sheet, a warm bag and sherpa blanket over the bag. I used a propane heater. I was warm up to 10° with that setup. I like early and late season camping.
Tea light candles need terra cotta pots for even heat radiation.

Cool cool video the only thing different u could have laid a tarp dwn first on the ground and or snow this will give another layer between u and the snow if ur tarp is big enough u could double layer it then put the biggest tent over the tarp and peg it dwn and strap it dwn with the ropes this will provide stability in the wind this will allow u not to have to peg the smaller tent so that u can move ur smaller tent at will however that's my personal opinion tho just idea cool video think this is a good idea the double tent sending up prayers 4 u and bless great healthy peaceful safe journeys travels and happy camping stay warm

I’ve noticed when camping in cold temps it’s best to sleep on foam type of mattress as opposed to an air mattress. The air in the mattress is cold and it made me cold. No insulation really. But foam mattress kept me warm.

Where is your tarp I don’t tent camp w/o at least two tarps

Why didn’t you try tea candles in the small tent? Its common sense that the 15 tea candles aren’t going to heat a large shanty when it’s -11 degrees out. That was a wast of time.

-22 °C is pretty hard core cold, at least compared with New Zealand where it never gets that cold except for maybe on top of a mountain.

Never wear jeans. Absolutely the worst thing to wear in bitterly cold weather.

Try larger candles and put them in a Tim coffee can or build a square mettle box.

How about a bigger candle with a clay pot on top.

I've slept in the snow with No Tent in 0° F, with just a Thermarest pad, a decent sleeping bag, and expedition weight polyester long johns (when I was young and broke and didn't know how great 100% merino is... I'll never wear polyester fleece again).
You definitely don't need 2 tents and a heat source other than your own body. But to each their own 👍

Just build a small fire & you would be set!

No experienced person wears jeans for winter camping; no person with common sense wears jeans for winter camping. So he was cold. & he was cold sleeping. Well, next time don't use an air mattress for winter camping, don't use an INFLATED air mattress, either. Sheesh.

Heating up some rocks in a campfire is actually a viable method of heating up a tent. You should try that next time, I’ve even seen someone cook off a heated rock in their car believe it or not.

Celsius and fahrenheit should be other way around

U also need a low cot to keep U off the ground, especially in the snow!

Use terracotta pots upside down w/teas lights under neath, leaving a little space to keep tea lights lit, they work great & tea lights burn about 4 hours!

Put the candles inside a clay pot they can warm the clay pot at the same time.

in cars, nope our heater went out and it was freezing in the car and we was going over the mountains windows fogging it was hell, not to mention those things weren't anything ,too damn small,lol well when we got over them we got the heater fixed by a mechanic that didn't just fix it temporary.
