400 watts of solar panels, 8 rain barrels and a 40lb thrust trolling motor propelled us on our 5 day river adventure on the North Saskatchewan River. I brought along crazy neighbor and the two of us got stuck, caught fish, and had the adventure of a lifetime.

I love how this dude shows simple glimpses into his adventures without over exaggerating anything or boasting about his skills. Just a normal dude that likes to get out and politely does his thing while pushing a lot of boundaries. Plus he sometimes brings Crazy Neighbor who seems to be a chill old dude that’s in it for not much else except hanging out with his buddy while enjoying the adventure. This is as wholesome and real as it gets in the world of friends enjoying themselves and not harming anyone or anything.

I LOVE your camping adventures!!! Having lived in the woods in the Ozarks for ten years, (totally OFF GRID), I made my way the (verrrry) hard way at first. You learn tricks as you go, that help out a lot. I lived like you, in some of your camping trips, using tarps, plywood political signs, scrap 2 x 4s, and living almost free. (I did have a large bank account, for emergencies), but visiting saw mills for cut off scrap wood, covered most of my heating and cooking, needs. Their large supply of saw dust came in very handy also. Pest control - due to the bugs living in the wood, WAS a big problem, but I found ways to control that. ($$$$$) But mostly, I enjoyed the peace and quiet, and watching the habits of the wild animals. The critters and I became great friends, mostly,........ snakes and spiders and ticks, not so much. Snakes DO NOT like saw dust, and stayed away because of that, for the most part. Smoldering saw dust is great for keeping pests at bay!! Saw dust for cooking, too. It burns very hot, and shows off no light at night. A quality rechargable screw gun, a hammer, and a large supply of screws and nails, made my life, a lot nicer. Solar panels and 6 semi batteries and an inverter, came along three months into my adventure. (I used to be a trucker and knew a thing or three about charging systems and inverters.) I wish you GOOD LUCK, and by the grace of God, best wishes, for all you do.

Been watching your videos this winter in Texas. Great relaxing views. I know you don't call your video's learning or teaching. But have picked up a lot of very practical ideas. Screw the sticks and bow fire starters. Love the flamethrower idea.
Anyway, the homemade river raft is fantastic. Keep doing what you're doing. Life's too short.

Something like a sea anchor might catch the current and help to keep you going straight downriver.
Try tossing a 5 gallon bucket or two in the water on ten feet of rope.
A boat like that's going to be pushed around by the wind.
    Looks like lots of fun.

11:34 try a higher PV voltage.
Cloudy day = low voltage output = not enough voltage difference between the panels and the 🔋 to charge. I'll bet you're using lead based batteries; they charge at about 50% efficiency, meaning you only store about half of what you put in.
Put the panels in series(48v), or at least series-parallel (24v), and use a charge controller that can accept higher voltages and convert to lower-voltage / higher-amps without losing watts. I think those are called mppt or something

When you beach your boat at night head straight in. Then tie off with 2 ropes, one rope tied at each corner from the stern (heading 45 degrees away from those back corners) to the shore. This will keep you stable from the current pushing you sideways and also keep your stern in the deepest water.

I’m new to your channel so if it seems like I’m blowing smoke up your ass, I’m really not intending to.
How about bringing a small Honda or other brand gas powered generator for back up to the back up.
In prepping the saying goes “3 is 2. 2 is 1 and 1 is none.” So if you’re packing for a camp out and you’re packing 3 bic lighters, pack 6. Put 1 in your pocket, 2 in one ziplock bag and 3 in another one. I’m not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I do have common sense. Stay safe!

Steve, your buoyancy needs to be on the outside or touching the edges, it's a bit too far in, secondly, a rope with a weight with knots tied on, so weight on the end, six foot, one knot, 12 foot 2 knots, will give you fathoms...brilliant, sat at home with a cup of coffee and stitching my German army Parker. Love the scenery. I just watched 6 hours of you.(uk)
